The third annual Mac & Chili Challenge at Sherwood Island State Park today announced winners of Sunday’s event.

More than 700 persons were not deterred by the wet weather and turned out to vote for their favorites, said Jim Keenan, organizer, who also oversees the Chowdafest competition, whicht took place at the park last month. The winners:
Hub & Spoke in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport successfully defended its 2016 championship in the classic beef chili category.
Simply Delicious in South Norwalk won in the creative chili category.
Burger Bar & Bistro, also in South Norwalk, won the classic mac n’ cheese category.
Cask Republic with locations in Greenwich, New Haven and South Norwalk won in the creative mac n’ cheese category.
