According to library officials, the event will feature thousands of deeply discounted books and other items in more than 70 categories, including: art; children’s books; education; novels; foreign language; gardening; games; health; history; home; humor; law; literature; maker-handcrafts; music; mysteries; religion; science; and myriad other disciplines.

DVDs, music CDs and vinyl records, plus mass-market paperbacks, will also be included, organizers said

Donated materials come from the libraries of William Louis-Dreyfus, philanthropist, businessman, art collector and poet, whose works were published in the New Criterion, Hudson Review, and the Southwest Review. He was also president of the Poetry Society of America, 1998-2008.

Other offerings are the from the collections of the late Edward Vebell, a longtime Westporter and an accomplished fencer and illustrator who, during World War II, was a staff artist for Stars & Stripes, as well as the official courtroom artist for the Nuremberg war trials.

Vebell’s collection is heavy in militaria, the American West and the American Indian, the announcement said.

There will also be offerings from the collection of the late Westporter Emanuel Margolis, a prominent civil rights attorney and former chairman of the ACLU of Connecticut.

The sale is set to take place under the tents on Jesup Green and inside the newly transformed library building. The event once again coincides with the Westport Fine Arts Festival on July 20 and 21.

Sale hours are Saturday, July 20, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, July 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Monday, July 22, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (everything half-price); and Tuesday, July 23, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. ($5 per bag).
