The exhibit will showcase architectural renderings of the library’s current transformation designed by Henry Myerberg’s New York-based design firm, HMA2.

The designs will be paired with Westport photographer Richard Frank’s pictures of current construction on the library’s first floor.

Planned for more than a decade, the Westport Library’s major renovation began in September and will continue into 2019.

During the renovation the library will remain open. Library officials said $19.5 million plan will not change the building’s footprint.

According to library officials, the renovation will include a newly designed entrance capitalizing on the library’s downtown location and a redesigned Riverwalk level to house an adult book collection, plus quiet reading areas replete with views of the Saugatuck River.

The main level will be transformed into The Forum, officials said, becoming an open, flexible space for multiple everyday activities, plus special events on the Forum Stage. The area will accommodate up to 600 people.

The main level also will feature an increased number of conference rooms, quiet areas, an enlarged Library Café, a larger dedicated MakerSpace, a HackerSpace workshop with prototyping equipment and co-working space, “and a state-of-the-art recording studio,” the announcement said.
