The sale falls on the same weekend that the Westport Downtown Merchants Association hosts its annual Fine Arts Festival.
Under tents on Jesup Green and in the Library’s McManus Room, the sale will feature more than 100,000 discounted books in more than 70 categories from art to zoology, with a particularly large selection of art and photography books, organizers said.
In addition to books there will be DVDs, CDs, vinyl and audio books. The sale also will offer a large selection of music, including songbooks from heavy metal to Broadway shows, plus pristine Metropolitan Opera librettos, most at low paperback prices.
In addition, organizers said there will be more than 600 sporting books, with a large concentration on angling, including fly-tying and fly-fishing, plus hunting.
The books are from the estate of noted antiquarian bookseller Judith Bowman, with many of the texts signed and in pristine condition.
The sale hours are Saturday, July 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, July 16, 10 a/m. to 5 p.m.; and Monday, July 17, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. when all items are half-price.
On Tuesday, July 18, it will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the suggested donation is $5 per bag of books.
This year’s sale is dedicated to one of the late Library volunteer Bill Gluckman.
More than 300 volunteers typically are needed for the book sale, event planners said.
