The Pearl at Longshore was the venue Thursday night for the performance of a quintet, comprised of Jazz Society of Fairfield County (JazzFC) musicians. The group was recorded for the first time with a live audience in support of the Micky Golomb Scholarship Fund. According to organizer Richard Epstein, “the professional recording, once converted to CDs as well as downloads and streaming access, will generate sales to support the fund created in honor of Golomb, the late saxophonist who died last year at age 88. The fund supports scholarships for Fairfield County students who study Jazz in university or conservatory. The quintet is comprised of pianist Andy LaVerne, bassist Jay Anderson, trumpeter Alex Sipiagin, drummer Jason Tiemann, and Greg Wall (the Jazz Rabbi).
