Improvements Made to Luciano Park

Improvements are being made to Luciano Park in the Saugatuck area near the Metro-North station. Supervised by the Parks and Recreation Department, workers replaced old fencing and erected a new backstop and safety fencing for the girls’ softball field. Donors included Westporters Jeff and Sue White, Peter Romano, Al DiGuido, and the Westport Police Athletic League (PAL). Inspecting the field today were (l-r) Deputy Chief Foti Koskinas, Sue White, Jeff White, First Selectman Jim Marpe, Parks and Recreation Director Stuart McCarthy, Peter Romano, Al DiGuido, and Westport PAL President Sam Arciola. The field is named to honor former Westport Police Chief Samuel J. Luciano who died in 1970 at the age of 57. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Contributed photo
