The owners of the house at 1 Crooked Mile Road, near the intersection of Newtown Turnpike, are the newest recipients of an historical plaque by the Westport Museum for History and Culture, formerly the Westport Historical Society. Bob Weingarten (l), house historian and plaque coordinator, presented the plaque identified as the Keene-Calhoun House, c. 1929, to Geralyn and Scott Breig, owners for the past 20 years. According to Weingarten, the plaque honors the heritage of this house which was built in 1929 by the brothers, Harry and John Keene, They transferred ownership of the house to Mary Calhoun in 1931 who owned the house until 1943 after which there were several owners, one of whom was film star Bette Davis who purchased the house in 1967 and owned it until 1976. Had a conversation with Bette Davis about how to prune hedges the proper way back in the 1970s. Will always remember those eyes. Also helped being a movie buff.
