In between area Town Hall-type meetings on health care reform, Congressman Jim Himes (D-4) addressed the Westport Rotary Club today on a number of issues, but with health care reform the focus of most interest. The 2009 Social Security and Medicare Trustees Reports show the combined unfunded liability of these two programs has reached nearly $107 trillion in today’s dollars! That is about seven times the size of the U.S. economy and 10 times the size of the outstanding national debt.
So before they take on more responsibility, why don’t they try to fix this disaster in waiting?!
Or a much easier question, why doesn’t Himes and the rest of congress step up and take this plan if it’s soooo good!
It’s hard to sell a product or service if the one pitching doesn’t want any part of it!
It’s like the scene in Caddyshack when Rodney Dangerfield says, “This is the worst-looking hat I ever saw! It looks good on you, though”.
On the bright side, the more the Democrats keep pushing this stinking fish, the more Obama’s approval ratings go down. Keep talking Jim, all the way until the next election!
