Going Down: Hales Court

Another section of Westport’s Hales Court housing complex was demolished this week for conversion to new affordable housing. The post-World War II housing development operated by the Westport Housing Authority is being expanded from 40 units to 78 units. Demolition began in December 2009 on the first 17 homes that are being replaced with new upgraded affordable units. The $24 million project funded by federal and state grants will also include a 2,000-square foot community center.  (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
