The house at Westport’s 71 Post Road West was demolished today. Built in 1942, the one-story wood frame clapboard house had 1,850 square feet. The demolition application lists No. 71 as part of one parcel specified as 69-71-73 PRW. It was the WestportNow Teardown of the Day, Sept. 19, 2013. According to Steve Smith, Westport’s building official and blight officer, this is the first house to be demolished under the order of the Blight Prevention Board. All properties, from 57 to 79 PRW, are subject to the town’s anti-blight ordinance for which individual demolition permits are pending. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
