Going Down: 14 Canal Road

The house at Westport’s 14 Canal Road in the Saugatuck Shores area was demolished Friday. Built in 1910, the two-story conventional house had 1,920 square feet and was situated on a .54-acre waterfront property. The former property owners are rebuilding on the same site according to FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) guidelines for the flood hazard area. It was the WestportNow Teardown of the Day on Dec. 9, 2010. Neighbor Carol Hurley, standing on her nearby property, captured the demolition on her camera.
