Westport artist and graphic designer Naiad Einsel told a Westport Pubic Library audience Thursday night about the library’s exhibit of handmade valentines she exchanged with her late artist husband Walter over the course of their 46-year marriage. The exhibition “50 Years of Valentines”—is on view in the library’s riverwalk display case through March 31. See another photo below. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Emily Laux for WestportNow.com

Last night Naiad Einsel was full of fascinating stories about these wonderful Valentines, and what a treat to see a video of a 1989 (?) TV show with former first selectman Marty Hauhuth interviewing Naiad and Walter Einsel. Love, deep affection, humor and mutual respect poured out of both of them. Theirs is such a wonderful love story. Don’t miss the exhibit if you want a real “upper”! Linda Gramatky Smith
a true love story.
Above my desk is one of my prized possessions: one of Naiad and Walter Einsel’s marvelous Save Cockenoe Now posters. Their clever, whimsical art and assemblages always were a treat of my childhood in Westport, and it’s nice to see Naiad going strong, honoring Walter and celebrating their long relationship together. Bravo!
