From an Older Baseball Star to a Young One

Chad Knight, one of the stars of the 2013 Westport Little League World Series team, today accepts some baseball memorabilia from retired Westport Fire Department Assistant Chief Joe Valiante at the Super Bowl tailgate party at the Westport Center for Senior Activities. When Valiante learned that Chad was a collector of baseball memorabilia, he asked his golfing buddy Bucky Dent to sign a photo and ball for Chad. Dent earned two World Series rings as the starting shortstop for the New York Yankees in 1977 and 1978, and was voted the World Series MVP in 1978. Dent is most famous for his home run in a tie-breaker game against the Boston Red Sox at the end of the 1978 season. Chad was overwhelmed by the gifts, which he said he would treasure.
