His appointment is effective Jan. 28, said Paul Hobby of Genesis Park LP, the magazine’s owner.
Austin-based Texas Monthly has chronicled life in contemporary Texas since 1973 and is known for astute political commentary and compelling long-form narrative nonfiction.
Goodgame has served as editor of Fortune Small Business magazine, and was a White House correspondent and Washington bureau chief for Time magazine.
In 2005, he wrote a compelling article for WestportNow based on his visit to his native Pascagoula, Missisippi after it was hit by Hurricane Katrina. Westport sent aid to the Gulf Coast community.
He is married to retired journalist, educator, and librarian Marcia Logan, who worked as a communications specialist for the Westport Library.
