Former Remarkable Book Store Showing Signs of Life

After being vacant for two years, the Main Street home for 32 years of The Remarkable Book Book Store and later Talbot’s is showing signs of life. Sold by Westporter Sidney Kramer in January 2013 for $4.2 million, the 3,871-square foot building is undergoing renovations. Contractor Gus Pappajohn told the Board of Selectmen recently he did not know anything about the new tenants. Remarkable closed in 1994 and Talbot’s ended its tenancy in the spring of 2012, consolidating its women’s store in the adjacent building. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
