An 18th century house sitting in the middle of Westport’s Sherwood Mill Pond is up for sale after 160 years in the same family. Owner Jeff Northup is asking $1.5 million for the 800-square-foot house, which has no running water, electricity or sewers. But he said the buyer will also get 6 acres of oyster and clam beds as part of the deal, according to today’s The Advocate. (CLICK TO ENLARGE ) WestportNow.com photos

OH BOY!!!! Let’s tear it down and build a multi-million dollar McMansion at least 5 stories high(have to go up, no land to go out, unless you put everything on piers…..hmmmm?), with an out house(at least a four holer), windmill, and cute little well house. Then we can sit on our rooftop deck and eat our own oysters and clams. That will look REAL nice!!!!.
What a fantasy house! To live out there all summer, write a book… Does anyone have info on how it’s used now?
pipe dreaming
Maybe we can put the new YMCA there….
Hey they’re tearing down the barn at 34 Edgewater…..now an even better view of this little island hideaway.
I remember this as being a real scary place back in the late 50’s and early 60’s……but then again, no kid wants to get caught!!!
I know Jeff and spent many days here in late 60s what a wonderful friend and space this was to spend time laughing and playing music.
