Westport firefighters today extinguished a basement fire in a home on Morningside Lane.
Assistant Chief Brian Meadows said initial arriving firefighters located the blaze as others conducted a search of the residence.
“The fire was contained to the room of origin,” he said.
In addition to Fairfield fire department providing aid on scene, Norwalk and Wilton Fire departments provided mutual aid station coverage, responding to multiple emergency calls elsewhere, Meadows said. Cause the blaze is under investigation.
