Dr. K Gets a “Block S” Award

Staples teacher Dr. Gerry Kuroghlian shows off his “Block S” award—usually awarded to top athletes—which was presented to him tonight at the Staples Scholar-Athlete banquet at Continental Manor in Norwalk. The 39-year veteran of the Westport school system told the audience there is a definite correlation between succeeding in high school athletics and attaining later academic and business success. The dinner, which began five years ago at the urging of Bill Mitchell of Mitchells of Westport, honored 31 Staples scholar-athletes. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) WestportNow.com photo
