Dick Button: ‘I Don’t Like Secrecy of (Skating) Judges’

Olympic champion figure skater Dick Button told an overflow Westport Library audience today he did not want his new book, “Push Dick’s Button: A Conversation on Skating from a Good Part of the Last Century-and a Little Tomfoolery,” to be a memoir nor a history of skating. “What I wanted to accomplish is to help the reader understand what it is they are really seeing on TV when they watch competitive figure skating,” he said. Button said there are a few things about figure skating today that he does not like -– including “the secrecy of judges, the cookie cutter skating programs, and many of the rule changes that are defined in this book.” (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
