The Darien Board of Education approved the hiring to replace Dan Brenner, who submitted his resignation to the board on May 30 in order to become director of the United Nations International School in New York City.
Landon, 78, retired as Westport Schools superintendent in July 2016 and was succeeded by Colleen Palmer, superintendent in Weston.
In Darien, Landon will be reunited with Marge Cion, former human resources director for the Westport schools who holds a similar position in Darien.
Also in Darien is Susie Da Silva, assistant superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction (K-12), who resigned as Kings Highway Elementary School principal in 2016.
Landon “brings a wealth of experience as a superintendent, most recently of the Westport Schools from 1999 to 2016,” the Board of Education said in a news release, including stints as superintendent in three other school districts, two of them in New York State.
