The Lady Wreckers, who improved to 7-5-1 on the season, were led by sophomore Shannon Lesch, the (Wo)Man of the Match.

The lone goal of the game came when Abbey Lake received a pass at the top of the penalty area and drew two defenders before slipping a beautifully timed pass to Jaclyn Katz.

Katz received the pass with one touch and then beat the St. Joe’s keeper to the lower left corner for the game winner.

Sophomore goalie Jesse Ambrose combined with Nicole Rothschild and Kelly Bohling to shut out the Cadets.

With 17 minutes to play, the game was interrupted when the referees stopped play and demanded that two St. Jo parents leave the premises due to their verbal abuse of the referees.

One obstinate parent refused to leave, causing a significant delay and a visit from the Westport police.

An elated Head Coach Brian Scott said, “This win was significant because it really helps our effort to qualify for the FCIAC Tournament. More importantly, this was a total team effort that confirms the girls’ belief that they can compete with and win against any team we will face.”

The Lady Wreckers travel to Danbury Tuesday and then close out the regular season against Greenwich at Loeffler Field on Thursday.
