Rachael Shapiro, a junior at Westport’s Staples High School, will give her third benefit classical piano concert on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Steinway Piano Gallery of Westport.
This year’s concert will support the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research and is given in memory of a special family friend, Dick Stein of Norwalk, an announcement said. He died of pancreatic cancer last October.
Rachael, who has been playing the piano since she was 7, raised $4,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in 2009, and $4,000 for the Chrohn’s and Colitis Foundation in 2010.
Rachael’s concert features a number of solo classical piano pieces by Scarlatti, Rachmaninoff, and Schumann. In addition, Rachael’s sister Ellie will play her violin, and her brother Daniel will play his French horn, both with Rachael.
Reservations must be made in advance. Suggested minimum donations are $30 for adults and $20 for students. Children over 10 may attend.
