The Westport Pancake House & Restaurant, 520 Post Road East, has closed. Neighbors said it shut down a week ago. Known as International House of Pancakes (IHOP) until December 2005, the most current owners were Susan and Ray Zera who assumed ownership last December. Calls to the restaurant’s listed number said the call could not go through. The closure came as the Friendly’s Restaurant a few miles east on the Post Road in Southport closed after almost a quarter-century. I don’t understand why Friendly’s had to close. It always seemed to be packed. Perhaps they should have tried for a liquor license; I would have been more willing to take my kids there if they had some interesting draft beers.
Friendly’s filed for bankruptcy recently. IHOP is still in business but Westport is definitely not their target market.
I’m hoping Ole Mole reopens here.
Oh no what will this town do without WHOP
They’ll just go to the Sherwood Diner, like the rest of us. I like that my arms don’t stick to the booths there.
