The reading will be directed by Anne Keefe, Playhouse associate artist and curator of the play reading series. Tickets are $20 each.
“Breaking Legs” takes place in an Italian restaurant owned by a successful mobster and managed by his daughter Angie. Angie’s former college professor, Terrence, on whom she has a crush, arrives to ask for financial backing for a play he’s written.
When the mobster and his cohorts express interest in producing the work, the playwright is delighted — until he discovers that his backers are gangsters. The Playhouse says “In this madcap comedy, murder and menace are served up with plenty of pasta and laughter.”
“I remember laughing my way through this play at the Playhouse many years ago, and thought it deserved a revisit,” said Keefe. “Stop by Positano Ristorante for a bowl of pasta beforehand to put you in the mood.”
Immediately following the play reading, ticket holders are invited to Positano Ristorante, located next to the Playhouse, for complimentary snacks and cash bar.
The “Breaking Legs” cast includes Mike Boland as Tino De Felice; Chris Henry Coffey as Terrence O’Keefe; John Keating as Frankie Salvucci; Zoë Winters as Angie; Lenny Wolpe as Lou Graziano, and Evan Zes as Mike Francisco.
