Coalition Head: Abel Bradley House “Probably Will Be Saved”

bradleyfilm04110501.jpg
Eleanor Dickey, head of a coalition trying to prevent demolition of the Abel Bradley House, told a Westport Public Library audience tonight that she now thinks that the house “probably will be saved,” most likely as part of a larger house on the property. She made the comment at a screening of a partially completed documentary on efforts to save the 200-year-old house but provided no further explanation for her cautious optimism.  (CLICK TO ENLARGE ) Larry Untermeyer for WestportNow.com

  1. Correction: There is an “excellent chance” of building a casino because there is an “excellent chance” of finding Indian artifacts!

  2. We should tear down the house and erect an authentic Indian home. I’m sure that the Golden Hill tribe would be willing to help out. Wouldn’t that be more historic?

  3. I was always taught as a child that if I didnt have anything “nice” to say, dont say anything at all. If the previous commentors dont have anything “constructive” to say, they shouldnt say anything at all!!!.

  4. John M., my mama said “Do as you say and say as you do”:

OH BOY!!!! Let’s tear it down and build a multi-million dollar McMansion at least 5 stories high(have to go up, no land to go out, unless you put everything on piers…..hmmmm?), with an out house(at least a four holer), windmill, and cute little well house. Then we can sit on our rooftop deck and eat our own oysters and clams. That will look REAL nice!!!!.

  5. Dear Globee,
OUCH! You caught me! You are absolutely right. I’m going to try real hard not to fall prey to the “sarcasm” beast in the future!. I’m glad to see there is someone else who follows these comments as closely as I do. I just hope you are as passionate and against this “Teardown Insanity” as I am!.
    Thanks for setting me straight.
