Longshore Men’s Golf Association members performed their annual clean-up of the Longshore Park golf course today as the course officially opened for the season. Among the estimated 30 participants were Westporters Sean Jackman, Jim Marpe and Peter Knight. “Dan Rackliff and his crew did a good job of cleaning up after Storm Sandy and today’s volunteer crew is adding finishing touches to the course,” said Marpe. A BIG THANK YOU to Jim Marpe and his group of volunteers for helping to get the course ready for play. This is the type of “role up your sleeves – get the job done” type of spirit we need in our next First Selectman. I know the Town (and the golf course) will be in good hands with Jim Marpe at the helm.
Hey Jim you would get a bigger thank you if you could “take” Long Shore away from the town and give it back to the golfers. We want to know where the money is going. It certainly isn’t going into taking care of the greens.Maybe I should run for selectman on the speak your mind platform.
“I’m Jim Marpe and I approve of this advertisement”
Hey, there are other grunt jobs in town that need help, too!
I understood that WestportNow did not allow posting under anonymous names. Special exception always seems to be made for “Arthur Aitchess,” however.
At least the nom de plume has an interesting history, which might give one clues as to who is writing under it (with the tacit approval of WestportNow, it seems) . . .
