According to Merlo, the new and former owners came to an agreement that the barn components could be removed from the property by hand rather than by traditional demolition equipment. Merlo said that the former owners plan to salvage the barn components – “wood slabs, beams etc” – and incorporate them into a new residence to be built in the Newport, R.I. area.
