For recognition, the average GPA of all varsity players must be at least 3.25.

This is the third time in four years the Wreckers have won the award, and the sixth since it was instituted in 1999.

“I’ve always been proud of our team’s accomplishments, in the classroom as well as on the field,” said head coach Dan Woog. “I’m glad the NSCAA recognizes them too.”

Thanks for a Great Season

Staples coach Marce Petroccio has some season-ending words of thanks to his Wreckers following their 28-14 loss to Bunnell tonight at Trumbull. Staples ended with an 8-2 record. It was the seventh successive state playoff appearance for the Wreckers. Said Petroccio: “I feel awful for my seniors who worked so hard all year. It’s hard to fall short like this. It’s a new feeling for me. It doesn’t quite feel right that there’s a state championship game going on and we’re not going to be there.” (CLICK TO ENLARGE) WestportNow.com photo
