Owner Sarah Green said that she and her husband, Mark Motyl, were parents of two boys and a girl on the way when they moved into the house in 2004 because “we liked the property a lot, but our intention was to demolish the house and replace it later on.”
She added, “One of the things we like about this property is that it backs up onto Wakeman Field. We hear the joy of kids playing ball there. What a nice sound to us.”
Green said her husband, an international bond salesman, is taking a year off from his job to assume a new role as general contractor for the construction of their new house. She said it will be a center hall colonial “with a contemporary flair” which she said will be around 5,000-square feet.

Both figures were up 1.3 percent over the prior month, with the best city gains seen in San Francisco, Washington D.C. and Phoenix.
Overall, 13 cities saw consecutive monthly gains. After 20 consecutive months of decline up until February, the news is a positive indicator although prices have continued to fall on an annual basis.
The chairman of the S&P’s Index Committee, David Blitzer said, “While one month does not make a trend, particularly during seasonally strong buying months, the combination of rising positive monthly index levels and improving annual returns is a good sign.”

The National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo confidence index rose to 29 in June, and that is the highest it has been since May 2007. This figure exceeds the median estimate of 28 in a Bloomberg News survey.
Barry Rutenberg, chairman of the National Association of Home Builders, said, “This month’s modest uptick in builder confidence comes on the heels of a four-point gain in May and is reflective of the continued, gradual improvement we are seeing.”
Locally, there are 44 newly constructed homes that are on the market, which are either proposed, under some stage of construction, or completed.
Comings & Goings: Blu Parrot Takes Jasmine Spot

A new restaurant, Blu Parrot, featuring live music and a light menu, is coming to 60 Charles St. in the Saugatuck location of the former Jasmine Restaurant and onetime Arrow Restaurant. Westporter Adam Lubarsky, who owned the now closed Georgetown Saloon in Redding from 1978 to 2004, is the tenant, and a lease has been signed, according to Realtor Skip Lane. Lubarsky, a Westport resident for 56 years, was spotted outside the restaurant today and said a formal announcement is coming, “probably next week” and that he hopes to be open in the fall. Lane said, “It will be a new venue for Westport, a form of entertainment as compared to the many other restaurants that are opening in town.” He added, “The streets seem to roll up after diners leave a restaurant, but the 5,700 square feet Blue Parrot will provide live music and be a fun place.” Jasmine closed in September 2010 (See WestportNow Sept. 22, 2010) (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com

Comings & Goings: Suzie CreamCheese Closing
![]()
Suzie CreamCheese, a women’s apparel shop at 68 Church Lane, near the Christ & Holy Trinity Church, is closing by the end of the month or early July, according to owner Westporter Robin Singer. The shop has been in its present location since August 2011 after it moved from 1330 Post Road East which it occupied for six and a half years (see WestportNow July 2, 2011). “I want to do something different from the traditional retail business,” said Singer. She said her plan is to create a “pop-up” business that will expand her apparel lines to include home goods, jewelry and vintage style items. She said the pop-up shops, which will retain the Suzie CreamCheese name, will be open three times a year—at the start of fall, spring and summer. In addition, Singer plans an accompanying online business. “I expect to start around October,” she said. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
