Real Estate Report: Activity Picking Up

Sales activity is bustling for lower priced homes in Westport.

Of the 36 homes under deposit, what is known as Continue to Show (CTS) status, 32 are below the median list price of $1,799,000.

Sales are cyclical, and when the lower priced properties sell, it should still be considered good news for the homes in higher ranges. Many buyers “move up” in the market, especially during this time of year.

The owners of the homes that are selling in the lower ranges are moving up to the mid range properties, and those homeowners, in turn, are moving up to the higher priced homes.

Walin & Wolff, a women’s designer shoe, handbag and accessories store, opens Thursday at 30 Post Road East, according to co-owner Kim Walin. She said the Westport location will be their third store -– the others are in New Canaan and Rye, N.Y.—with plans to open 10 stores in the tri-state area. The 2,000 square feet store will carry well known fashion designer brands including Valentino, Jimmy Choo, Stuart Weitzman, Tory Burch and many others, she said. The space was formerly occupied by Soleil Toile, the lingerie, bathing suit and accessories store, which moved down the block at the end of November. Comings &  Goings: Faces Beautiful Relocates to PRW

WestportNow.com Image
Faces Beautiful, a beauty and hair salon, has relocated to 208 Post Road West, near the intersection of Kings Highway South. “We choose not to renew our lease at 139 Post Road East in downtown Westport, a combination of decreasing parking for our clients and increasing rents designed for many big box stores, not independent salons,” said owner Gail Sagel (above). “We moved to 208 Post Road West, a building owned by Dr. Joseph O’Connell, the well-known and very well-respected plastic surgeon. We have also associated ourselves with Salon DeMatteo here in the same location. So now with the three of us all together, we can offer our clients the total beauty package—everything from facials, makeup, skincare, accessories, hair services and all of the perks from Dr. O’Connell such as Botox, Juvederm, Cool Sculpt and plastic surgery.” (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
