It is uncertain as to whether the Bagel Maven, 538 Post Road East, will close its doors for good on Tuesday, the final day of its lease, according to Alex Perdomo, owner for the past six years. Perdomo said, “It was a tough winter for us, and I fell behind in my rent payments, but over time managed to pay it back.” He said his landlord, whom he described as “great to work with,” does not want to renew the lease, but he hopes to work something out. Perdomo said he does not want to have to look for a new space because “my customers are in this area of town.” He said although he became owner of Bagel Maven six years ago, the business has been at that location since 1990. It should be no surprise that the Island took a direct unit sales hit during 2012-2013 following Super Storm Sandy when only one home sold during that time, but that appears to be the extent of it.
Despite what you may have thought, the market bounced back quickly, and has picked up quite nicely since then.
The Island is comprised of approximately 45 acres, just over 100 homes, and boasts two private beaches.
