Rotary Club to Issue Grants to Community Organizations
The Westport Rotary Club will award $25,000 in community partnership grants at a luncheon on Tuesday, May 29 at 12:15 p.m. at the Inn at Longshore.
A total of 33 community organizations will receive grants during the luncheon, and the club donates an additional $5,000 to $10,000 each year for clean water, education and provides prosthetic limbs for amputees in the poorest parts of the world where land mines still exist.
Some of the grants go to Norwalk and Bridgeport-based organizations including Habitat for Humanity and Dress for Success. Another $5,000 earmarked for scholarships for Staples High School graduates.
“Westport Rotary focuses on the immediate community because few outside the Westport community will contribute to the local needs of this wealthy community,” said Robin Hammond, Rotary Community Partnership Grants Committee chairman.
