For the first time, tickets will be available online beginning Thursday for the three performances next month of the 76th annual Candlelight Concert by the musicians of Staples High School.
An announcement said free tickets, with a limit of eight per person, will be available online here.
A limited number of tickets can also be requested by mail until Dec. 9 at Candlelight Tickets, Staples High School, 70 North Ave., Westport, CT 06880. Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope.
The performances are Friday, Dec. 16 at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The Saturday night concert will feature the return of hundreds of Staples music department alums, joining the current students in performing the concert’s concluding rendition of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.”
According to Westport Music’s K-12 Supervisor, Thomas Scavone, the Candlelight Concert’s rich tradition has endured longer than almost any public school music program.
“The proof of success in public education programming is popularity, durability and impact,” he said.
“The Candlelight Concert scores on all three. It has served as the herald for the holiday’s for 76 years and represents the very best from the Westport Music Department.”
