Ron, Great moment, sense of the morning opening up, enhanced even more by the composition. The contrast/tension you set up between the left foreground with its deeper tones and the right more bright(sound and sky)in itself echoes the night opening into the day. I love the way the texture of the tree and the clouds play against each other, and the way the branch of the tree balances over it all.
Thank you for being there and sharing this dawn.

Being relatively new to Westport I’m curious about the name Burying Hill Beach. Can anyone shed a little light on this? Thanks
Jeff,
When I was a Lifeguard there we were wondering the same thing one rainy day. We wanted to know who was “buried” under the lifeguard shack. We called the Westport Historical Society and they looked into it. They found out that it was the burial ground for the Couch family. They owned property around Green’s Farms, along with a guy named John Green hence the name of the area. We had heard all kinds of stories that it was an Indian burial ground or there were British soldiers there. I guess over time the headstones or markers have disappeared. Even though it seems kind of morbid, when people would call the lifeguard shack on rainy days and ask what we were doing we would tell them that we were just hanging out on the Couchs If you are new to town you may want to check out the book Westport, Connecticut written by Woody Klein and sponsored by the Westport Historical Society. Its a great book on town history.
Thanks for the interesting explaination, Jack. Isn’t history wonderful? I’ll look for the Woody Klein book.
