Boys Soccer Falls to Warde in Thriller Image
A second half penalty kick, and a goal with eight seconds remaining, was the difference today at Loeffler Field. Fairfield Warde made both shots, sending the Staples boys soccer team to a 2-0 loss on Senior Day. The defeat -– the first in 12 matches for the Wreckers –- came despite excellent offensive pressure, strong midfield and defensive work, and a spectacular save by keeper Ziggy Hallgarten. The Wreckers end the regular season with a 7-3-6 mark. They begin the quest for their 28th FCIAC championship on Thursday, away.
