Boys Soccer Drops Heartbreaker to Danbury

Spencer Daniels scored an early goal –- aided by Sam Kantor’s deceptive run that opened up space –- but Danbury answered with two late strikes today at Loeffler Field. The Hatters staved off a last-second Staples free kick –- momentarily bobbled by the keeper -– to deal the Wreckers their first defeat of the FCIAC season. Pictured is Josh Berman (15) eluding the grasp of a Danbury Hatter, and moving upfield as Kantor and Matt Engler support. Staples (1-1-0) is in action again Wednesday. They host always-tough Trumbull, 4 p.m. at home. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Armeele Daniels for WestportNow.com
