Author on G.H.W. Bush: ‘He Had Personal Magnetism’

Pulitzer Prize-winning and best-selling biographer Jon Meacham drew a full house today to the Westport Town Hall where he discussed his newest book, “Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush,” about the life and legacy of the 41st U.S. president. Meacham, a former editor-in-chief of Newsweek and a contributing editor to Time magazine, said he spent 17 years working on the book. “George Herbert Walker Bush had personal magnetism,” he said. “To meet him was to admire him, to put your trust in him.” The event was sponsored by community partners the Westport Library, Westport Historical Society, and the Yale Club of Eastern Fairfield County.
