Always a popular event, the Center’s bi-annual Family Art Day provides an opportunity for families to work together on hands-on creative projects.

For the March 26 event, families will enjoy a visit from Caroline Wurtzel, an illustrator and graphic designer for Bustle.com, a website dedicated to providing the latest news on politics, technology, fashion, and more, an announcement said.

Wurtzel will speak about the art of design and will help families create their own family crest using a variety of materials and design techniques.

The Family Art Day projects are designed to introduce artistic processes and techniques, to help youngsters explore their imaginations, and to help bring the Arts Center’s exhibitions to life, the announcement said.

Family Art Day will also include a special preview of Summer Camp 2017 projects. Guests will learn about new contemporary workshops, talented instructors and schedule, organizers said.

Families who are members (or who become members on Family Art Day) can sign up for Summer Camp during Family Art Day to receive an additional 10 percent off camp registration, the announcement said.

Families may register for Family Art Day: Create Your Family’s Modern Crest by visiting http://www.westportartscenter.org or by calling (203)222-7070. Tickets can also be purchased at the door, but due to the popularity of this program, advance registration is recommended. Tickets are $10 per child. Adults and children under 2 years old are free.
