There will be a reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m. with the exhibit continuing until Oct 7.

From the colorful boats in Nice Harbor, to the hard scrabble shores of Newfoundland, to the rugged coast of Maine, and docks along the shores of Connecticut, Kretsch has followed his passion for observing life by the harbor.

The photographic exhibition is a collection of images created over many years of observing life near the edge of the harbor.

From the abstract to a graphic use of color to very simple mood provoking images, the exhibit will present Kretsch’s impressions as seen at many beautiful harbors both near and far.

Although not a sailor himself, Kretsch has spent much time observing the atmosphere by the harbor.

“I am always seeing so many beautiful shapes, colors and moods as I travel along the docks and the shoreline by the harbor,” he said. “The colors, reflections, textures and shapes have given me a great tapestry of material to create this body of work.”

Kretsch has been a resident of Westport for some 42 years. A teacher in the Norwalk Public Schools for some 37 years, his interest and passion for photography evolved over many years of shooting and studying the work of master photographers.

Mostly self- taught, he has participated in workshops at the Maine School of Photography. He created his business Peaceful Places and now exhibits his work at outdoor shows throughout New England.

His work has won many awards at art festivals and some of his work has been purchased in public and private businesses including Sloane Kettering Hospital in New York City.
