Annual Summer Running Series Under Way

Under the sign for the Westport Road Runners, participants prepare for the 5.85 miler at Compo Beach Saturday as part of the 45th annual summer series. Laddie Lawrence, a 1964 Staples graduate and track and field, coach, has been organizing the season for the Parks and Recreation Department for much of that time. The distance increases each week, leading up to a 10-mile race on Labor Day. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Miggs Burroughs for WestportNow.com
