Almost Perfect

Darien tonight ended Staples Field Hockey’s perfect season with a 2-1 victory over the Wreckers at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk. Staples is now 18-1 heading into the CIAC State Tournament. The Blue Wave team was fired up from the opening minute, as were their fans in the stands. Staples Junior Kyle Kirby scored the Wreckers only goal 12 minutes into the half. Darien answered five minutes later. The Blue Wave scored the winning goal in the second half and never looked back. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) J.C. Martin for WestportNow.com
