The house at 346 Compo Road South was demolished today. WestportNow reader Matt Murray caught the start of the teardown (inset). Built in 1920, the two-story colonial had 1,843 square feet, was situated on the .18-acre property and changed ownership last month for $1 million. It was the WestportNow Teardown of the Day on Dec. 16, 2009. Additionally a 328 square feet barn on the property was dismantled in March (see WestportNow, March 26, 2010) in an effort to salvage the barn components –- wood slabs, beams etc, —and incorporate them into a new residence to be built by the former owners in the Newport, R.I. area.
