Almost 40 years after they performed “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” as Staples Players, cast and crew members of the 1966 production watched tonight as the current Players performed their version. At the end, all gathered on stage to honor 1966 director Craig Matheson. (CLICK TO ENLARGE ) WestportNow.com photo

Good photo’s and it was nice the class of 66 returned. However, it was this play in 2005 that was also an outstanding production and it would have been nice if a photo of this year’s Staples Players had also been included with the Class of 66 and Selectman Diane Farrell giving the award to Craig Matheson. Nothing wrong with recognition for the old-timers, but some recognition would also have been appreciated for a great bunch of kids who did an outstanding job on the 2005 version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Pay more attention, Dick! There have been recognition and photos of this 2005 production here prior to this. And excuse me me for saying, but this historic event ranks a bit higher than you acknowledge. I’ll assume you’re a proud parent of a current Player and not just an idiot.
Hey “Not a Dick” you should do your homework before posting messages!! Mr Alley (as you should refer to him!) is a longtime Westport resident and deserves more respect. I happen to agree with him. While this was obviously a momentus occasion, it seemed to over shadow (in the media anyway) the hard work and fantastic job the current players did!
To “Not a Dick” – just to set the record straight, I am a proud Grandparent of a Staples Player, a second Staples student, a Staples graduate myself (class of 53), parent of two Staples graduates, served the Town of Westport for more than 26 years as a career Law Enforcement officer, and was a columnist for the Westport Town Crier, Fairpress and the Westport News over many years. I am a big fan of Westport Now, the photo’s and reporting. While I don’t think I am an idiot, I am a proud grandparent and stand by my original observation. Dick is my name and I am also proud of that.
