A Mets Legend Visits Westport’s Legends

Mookie Wilson, 56, former center fielder for the New York Mets and the Toronto Blue Jays, today visited Westport’s Legends of the Game sports memorabilia shop, 1765 Post Road Eas,t for an autograph signing session.  Wilson, 12-year major league player and a member of the New York Mets Hall of Fame, is best remembered for his role in Game 6 of the Mets vs Red Sox 1986 World Series when his ground ball in the bottom of the 10th inning went through the legs of Red Sox first basemen Bill Buckner allowing the winning run to score.  Known in baseball history as the “Buckner play,” the Mets went on to win the World Series in Game 7.
