A “Doc” Gooden High Five for a Little Guy

New Canaan resident Cooper Dinan, who turned 4 last week, trades high fives with Dwight “Doc” Gooden at the Legends of the Game sports memorabilia store on Post Road East today where the baseball veteran signed autographs. It was the first visit to Westport for Gooden, famed pitcher for the New York Mets for 11 years and two years with the New York Yankees in his 16-season career (1984-2000). “It seems like a nice town—laid back, quiet,” said Gooden, a resident of Columbia, Md. He said that he may be moving back to the New York or New Jersey area soon since he is opening a baseball academy in New Jersey’s Bergen County around Sept. 1.
