300th Historic Plaque to Wilton Road Home

The 300th plaque in the Westport Historical Society (WHS) plaque program – it began in 1978—has gone to a 1803 circa home at 268 Wilton Road. Peter Greenberg of Able Construction (l) received the marker from Ed Gerber (c), WHS president, and Bob Weingarten, WHS house historian. He was also honored with a 2015 Preservation Award for his vision and rehabilitation of the home, which included moving it back 60 feet from the roadway. The house is among those featured in the WHS exhibit “Window to Westport’s Past and Present,” opening Sunday. It features Works Progress Administration (WPA) photographs taken in the 1930s of Westport’s historic homes. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Larry Untermeyer for WestportNow.com
