While the market is quite active in Westport, sellers should not throw caution to the wind when pricing their home.

Sellers still need to price their homes in accordance with what the market will bear.

They should not get too aggressive with pricing a home beyond what its suggested market value indicates.

It may be perfectly acceptable depending on the available similar inventory, price range, location and/or amenities to increase the initial asking price.

The spring real estate season is exceptionally busy in Westport, more so than it has been for a very long time.

The market has now changed from a buyer’s market to that of one favoring sellers, and many homes have had multiple bidders.

The numbers certainly tell the story — 82 single-family homes entered or re-entered the market in the last 60 days, and 49 homes have taken an initial deposit.

Eight homes have gone under deposit within two weeks of being listed for sale.
