Comings & Goings: Bel Mondo Relocates to Post Road East

WestportNow.com Image
Bel Mondo, a home furnishings, accessories and interior design services store, has relocated from 222 Post Road West to 993 Post Road East.  The space was formerly occupied for seven years by Then Again, an upscale women’s consignment store. “We wanted to locate in a cozier environment and this building lends itself to that,” said Australia-born owner Heidi Thrun, a former Westport resident. “And it was good timing with our lease expiration on Post Road West.” (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com

An office building at 500 Post Road East is the first recipient in Westport’s new Sustainable Design and Construction Awards program, part of an effort to become a NetZero community by the year 2050. Making the presentation to Timon Malloy (2nd r), president of building owner Fred F. French Investing LLC, were First Selectman Jim Marpe and Green Task Force members. P&Z Subcommittee Moves to Improve Communications With Public

Tell it like it is. In plain English.

That seemed to be the prevailing sentiment about how to improve Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) communications with the public that emerged from a Town Hall meeting a Wednesday night.

The session was a joint meeting of the Representative Town Meeting’s P&Z Committee and the P&Z’s Communications Subcommittee. The meeting reviewed proposals introduced at the subcommittee’s last meeting.

“After discussing public feedback, we decided that all notices should include a short plain language description of the matter being noticed to ensure that residents understand the nature of what is being proposed by an applicant,” said Danielle Dobin, co-chair.

Real Estate Report: Single-Family Home Inventory Minimal

By Judy Szablak

Special to WestportNow

Newly listed single-family home inventory is currently minimal in Westport, which presents opportunities for soon to be sellers, and at the same time presents challenges for buyers who have been looking.

Seventeen percent of the available 241 properties show on our MLS as being listed for 30 days or less. But in fact, only 18 of these properties are truly new to the marketplace and have not been on the market recently.

Buying or selling a home is a process, and does take time, no matter which side of the transaction that you are on, and some are planning both.

Somehow, inclement weather leads us to focus on the immediate, rather than longer term decisions, and tends to make us think that there is always more opportunity ahead to accomplish what is needed.

HK was the only broker involved in the transaction for the seller, the estate of Anna Nappa, who died in 2009, and buyer Belden Place, LLC.

The .39-acre property is in a restricted business district and has three separate buildings totaling 10,050 square feet.
