Workers apply finishing touches to the exterior of 11 Wilton Road in preparation for this weekend’s relocation of the Roger Ferris Architectural firm from 285 Riverside Ave. According to principal Roger Ferris, the new offices will house the firm’s expanding art collection. Ferris, with other offices in New York’s Chelsea district and in Bridgehampton, N.Y., employs 35 in Westport. A Westport resident for 40 years, Ferris said he is the original designer of the building at 11 Wilton Road “around 15 years ago and we thought it was a good idea to have our offices in a building we designed.” Ferris has been involved in many high profile projects in Westport including significant involvement in the nearby Save the Children and National Hall structures.  “We’ve done a lot in this quadrant of downtown and now we’ll be one of its neighbors,” Ferris said. “Westport is seminal to our creativity—it always had that artsy nature.” (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com

The nationally promising news is that all 20 MSA’s experienced an average increase in property value of 1.2 percent from July 2011 to the present period, which was the biggest 12-month increase since August 2010.

“The news on home prices in this report confirm recent good news about housing,” said Committee Chairman David M. Blitzer. “Single family housing starts are well ahead of last year’s pace, existing home sales are up, the inventory of homes for sale is down and foreclosure activity is slowing. All in all, we are more optimistic about housing.”

Good news nationally, but prices were down year over year in Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Chicago, and the New York areas.
