The so-called Blood Moon phase to the total lunar eclipse seen from Westport tonight. Blood Moon is not a scientific term, though in recent times it is being widely used to refer to a total lunar eclipse because a fully eclipsed moon often takes on a reddish color. Fiery Merritt Crash Injures Four
UPDATE A fiery crash on the Merritt Parkway just north of the North Avenue overpass northbound in Westport late today sent four persons to hospitals. Two vehicles were involved. Westport Assistant Chief Philip Hessberger said it was determined that one vehicle crossed the divider and collided with an oncoming car causing the second vehicle to catch on fire. All occupants were removed from the vehicles by good Samaritans and their injuries appeared non-life threatening, he said. Ribbon Cutting Opens 1177 Post Road East
There was an official ribbon cutting today for 1177 Post Road East, the 94-unit apartment complex, built under the 8-30g affordable housing statute. First Selectman Jim Marpe was joined by other town officials, the building developers, Phil Craft, Steve Lawrence, and Arthur Hersh, and Matthew Mandell of the Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce.
